There are so many uses for coconut oil, besides
eating of course! Read below to see how you can start incorporating some of
these into your daily life, for holistic healthy swaps.
Oil pulling: Is an
ancient Ayurvedic technique that has been around for centuries. What you do, is
you put a tablespoon of coconut oil in your mouth and swish for about 10-20
minutes. It is believed to improve your dental and gum health, whiten teeth,
get rid of bad breath and it removes toxins and detox’s the body. Make
sure to spit it out in your garbage can so it doesn’t clog your sink drain!
Toothpaste: If you ran out of toothpaste, you
can use coconut oil. However you won't get the same minty taste afterwards, but
your teeth will be sparkling clean!
Making scrubs: This is super fun and easy to do! Mix coconut oil with
Himalayan salt for a healthy exfoliating scrub. If you want something a little
less abrasive, swap the Himalayan salt for organic sugar. With the organic
sugar you can even use it on your face and lips too! Feel free to add in an
essential oil, that is safe for the skin (make sure to read the label) into the
mix for an invigorating, uplifting sent. Be careful not to get it to close to your
eyes or in your mouth, especially if you're using an essential oil with it.
Skin: You can use coconut oil on your skin to
help moisturize. It's also really great with reducing the symptoms from eczema,
skin infections and inflammation.
Hair: It can be used as a deep conditioner, by
adding in fatty acids and proteins back into the hair.
Lip Balm: Apply to lips to provide protection
and moisturize chapped lips.
Makeup remover: Ran out of makeup remover? Put a
little coconut oil on a cloth and use to remove makeup from the day!
Sometimes it’s
hard to know what is really into your products, the great thing about making
your own products is that there are no added toxic chemicals or ingredients you
can't pronounce!
