April marks the birthstone of the Diamond. The old saying, diamonds are forever, is actually pretty accurate. It's made out of one single element, carbon, and is known as one of the hardest and toughest gemstones out there. Although diamonds come in a plethora of colors, for April's birthstone, it is most commonly seen as a clear crystal. Diamonds have amazing healing powers and have been known to release toxins from within the blood and body and can even strengthen brain function. Because of the stones indestructibility, it is also a symbol of strength, courage and protection as well. Since the stone is practically invincible, it has even been said, by old tales, that diamonds were created when bolts of lightning struck the Earth!
